SMART Box
Part of Ecoblox Project
NSF and EPA-funded
SMART stands for Sensing and Monitoring for Aquatic Restoration and Tracking. It represents an innovative system that enhances aquatic ecosystem restoration by integrating real-time environmental monitoring, data-driven insights, and sustainable technologies into shoreline infrastructure solutions. The SMART BOX is an advanced environmental monitoring device to support marine ecosystem restoration and resilience. Integrated into the SMART system, it provides real-time data on water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen, using solar-powered technology for sustainable operation. Its modular design integrates with shoreline systems like Ecoblox and Biotiles, promoting biodiversity while tracking environmental changes. Built to withstand harsh marine conditions, the SMART BOX empowers researchers, educators, and policymakers with actionable insights for protecting coastal ecosystems and combating climate change.
